Gripped by fear, residents of towns in southern Chiapas are abandoning their homes and fleeing their towns as they fall into the hands of organized crime groups, fighting for control of the region and migrant routes.
The Pueblo Creyente organization of the municipality of Chicomuselo, Chiapas, denounced that pastoral agents and servants of the local parish were detained by members of the group El Maíz, social base of the Jalisco Cartel New Generation (CJNG).
