San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas — The Network of Resistance and Rebellion Ajmaq denounced that members of the Regional Organization of Coffee Growers of Ocosingo (Orcao) once again began armed attacks against the support bases of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) in the autonomous community of Moisés and Gandhi.

In a communiqué, the organization said that according to information from the Good Government Council (JBG) New Dawn in Resistance and Rebellion for Life and Humanity, the aggressions began on Wednesday at 8:30 pm.

He added that at 1:25 a.m. on Thursday, the bursts of gunfire intensified, raiding the autonomous secondary school; at 2:20 p.m. the group of heavily armed people remained just 30 meters from the houses of the EZLN’s support base families, who had to forcibly move to seek safe refuge.

It stated that the aggressions of the paramilitary group ended at approximately 3:30 a.m. (Thursday), according to information from the Good Government Council.

The network recalled that a little over a month ago members of Orcao arbitrarily detained José Antonio Sánchez Juárez and Sebastián Núñez Pérez, members of the JBG. We demand respect for the land and territory of the Zapatista peoples, for autonomy and self-determination, the group concluded.
