Visit to Caracol X and Nuevo San Gregorio

Compañeras, compañeros and compañeras of the CNI-CIG
Compañeras, compañeros and compañeras of the National and International Sexta
Compañeras, compañeros and compañeras who took on the Declaration For Life

We share that on Saturday, September 10, the members of the Network of Resistance and Rebellion AJMAQ, accompanied by our compañero Raúl Zibechi visited the compañeros and compañeras of the Good Government Council “New Dawn in Resistance and Rebellion for Life and Humanity” of Caracol 10 “Flourishing the Rebel Seed” and we decided as a Network to visit the Zapatista families of the community of Nuevo San Gregorio.

Autonomous Zapatista Territories 2021.

We were moved; to bring our embrace, our listening, our words, and the gaze of compañerxs from our embodied solidarity to know how this environment of war continues to lacerate and wear down the lives of the Zapatista families.

The reality that is being lived hurts us a lot and deeply: the violence of the invaders continues, and the government in Chiapas does not exist, does not see, does not hear, and does not speak.

The Flower of the Word Will Never Die.

But this time we are not going to describe this fact for fact. That will be done by Raúl Zibechi and/or the Frayba Human Rights Center. There is something tremendous that is very hard for us to describe, and we apologize. It is that, and it never ceases to amaze us, in spite of the cruelty towards these families of Nuevo San Gregorio, in each compañera, compañero, compañerita and compañerito there is a tremendous light in their eyes, a formidable attitude in the face of the burden of three years of violence. An insistence to create, and to maintain collective work. This amazes and moves us to see so much love in their continuing on and their being Zapatistas.

The image we leave you with is that of a community that has been confined to a state of enclosure.

And on that little piece of land, of half a hectare, and in the middle of the storm, a tiny sparkle appears that breaks the chilling scene of war: there is that baby being born, those boys and girls with looks of surprise, those young men and women creating. Zapatista men and women nurturing those seeds with patience and hope so that they will bloom, perhaps not there, but in another garden, on an asphalt, in a flowerpot and/or another mountain. We do not know. What we do know with certainty is that in the meantime, ORCAO, the 40, the criminal leaders, and the Mexican misgovernment are all trying to raise hell in order to get at those flowers, the flowers that continue invoking these words: to life.
