Sisters and Brothers:
The blood spilled here in Acteal is our strength, it is our conviction for the nonviolent struggle and our commitment to continue building peace, regardless of time and circumstances, as we have repeatedly stated.
On this 22nd of July, in the name of our 45 sisters and brothers and the 4 unborn babies, we raise our voices loudly and with dignity to denounce and shout what we are living today in Chiapas, in Mexico and in the world.
Today we see that the world is increasingly rotting, because it is governed by inhuman capitalists, who exercise their authority with anesthetized justice without respect for the law, international conventions and human rights, who lead the world to war, inventing new forms of slavery, murderers of babies and children, accomplices in bombing Palestinians. We know by experience the pain they live, in front of the deaf ears and the heart of stone, that have the lords of death, the bad governments and the rich and powerful, who have shown that they only care about power and money, as evidenced by the sale of weapons and genocidal occupation in Palestine.
We watch helplessly as Palestinian girls and boys, women and men, if they are not massacred by Israeli tanks and bombs, they are inhumanely tortured to death inhumanely by starvation. The Israeli state is certainly one of the most infamous genocidal that has ever existed on the face of the earth in our times.
And meanwhile, in Mexico and in Chiapas, things are not getting better either, the criminal violence of the narcos continues, the government has no will to stop the barbarism that we are experiencing in our country; the forced disappearances of adult women and men, as well as children, continue; The criminalization and assassinations of human rights defenders continue; the attack on autonomy and the defense of land and territory, as in the case of the armed attack on the community of Cherán K’eri in Michoacan, on July 2 of this year, where one person was killed and another wounded. Likewise, in the town of Tila, our compañeros and compañeras of the National Indigenous Congress, in their communiqué issued on July 13 of this year, denounce that the state and federal authorities have released arrest warrants without them having committed any crime, and that the pakales carry out searches in the houses of our compañeros, stealing their belongings, as these forces and their police of the governor of Chiapas, Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar(Governor of Chiapas), always do.
In Chiapas, the media war continues, to convince us that “everything is fine” they tell us that “Chiapas is safe”. We heard that on July 7 of this year, organized crime entered the center of San Cristobal de Las Casas, generating tension and fear in the people, and that a municipal policeman was murdered when he tried to stop the criminals. With this event, and we know that it is not the only one that continues to occur in this city and in other parts of Chiapas, it is very clear that the speech of Eduardo Ramirez Aguilar, “Zero Impunity”, is nothing more than a farce to fool the people.
However, with all the evil that we see, in this half of the year, in which we commemorate our Acteal Martyrs, today we remember Mary Magdalene, the first to see the Risen Jesus “While she was weeping, Jesus said to her, Why are you weeping? She turned and said to him, “Master” (Jn. 20:15).
For us, no pain is indifferent, and the Word of God illuminates our conscience and path of nonviolent resistance, because we walk with Jesus our Master, with the strength of our Martyrs, and the strength of the women of our organization with their Faith, their Word and their Works. Because we already know that the struggle has no limit, and includes all of us.
Sisters and brothers, LET US UNITE OUR VOICE AND CONVINCE THE WORLD THAT ONLY A UNITED NON-VIOLENT HUMAN WAVE CAN OVERCOME THE FOGS OF WARS, AND SHINE THE LIGHT!
We join in the prayer of the children of the Holy Family Church that was bombed in Gaza. Let us ask the God of Life and Peace like the Palestinian children’s petition to God: That the war ends, that they put a stop to the manufacture of weapons, we want to return to our homes, to play with our toys, to rest in our little beds… Let us all ask God, Father-Mother, to listen to the cry of the Palestinian people, that the tears of Palestine be cleansed with the Mantle of Love and Peace of Our Mother Virgin of Guadalupe.
