Indigenous women from across the state gathered in Tonalá this past weekend to analyze and share the struggles they face in their territories, to heal, and to strengthen their organization.

These assemblies provide a much-needed forum for building networks and fortifying the efforts in each community.

The author highlights the everyday acts of resistance and the construction of life and dignity by indigenous women, for the occasion of International Women’s Day, September 5th.

This weekend we are honored to be able to support the VI Assembly of the Movement of Women for the Defense of Mother Earth and Our Territories, on the coast of Chiapas.
