Indigenous Peoples of Chiapas and Individuals in Solidarity Mobilize Against the Genocide of the Palestinian People and for Peace

Convened by the Diocese of San Cristóbal de las Casas, thousands across the state of Chiapas marched against the genocide.

A statement by collectives in solidarity read, “During these two years of incessant genocide, it has become clear that it will be the mobilized peoples, and not the governments at the service of economic power, who will stop the colonial barbarism we are witnessing today across the globe.”

Diocese of San Cristóbal Asks 50 Parishes to Make a Pilgrimage for Peace in Palestine

The local diocese also called on “our brothers and sisters of other religious denominations and all men and women who fight for peace with justice and dignity to continue their actions in support of the Palestinian people or to join in Sunday’s actions in accordance with their beliefs and what their hearts inspire them to do.”

The Southeast Team of the Diocese of San Cristóbal de las Casas denounces the rising violence in their communities and “The lack of sincerity and honesty in recognizing, on the part of the government and authorities, the reality of violence and insecurity that we are experiencing, as if denying the problem were the best way to solve it.”

“We pray to the divine Spirit to convert hearts of stone into hearts of flesh, so that, among all of us, we may build a kingdom of peace, justice, love and fraternity.”
