In Mexico, despite pretenses of social justice under President Claudia Sheinbaum, the dispossession of indigenous lands continues apace in the quest to implement the Mayan Train, the Interoceanic Corridor, the Morelos Integral Project, and the so-called “Highway of Cultures” among other extractive megaprojects. As such, Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries in the world to be a defender of land and rights.
