“In psychology there is a thing called the internalization of damages. A harm that has occurred socially becomes internalized. Parents ask themselves if they were not to blame. The five of us sat in on those conversations; we had to let ourselves be touched by their stories in order to understand what was happening to them. Mexico: IACHR Experts Deliver Final Report on Ayotzinapa

In a final meeting in Chilpancingo with family members of the 43 students, Doña Blanca told Ángela Buitrago and Carlos Beristáin of the GIEI, “Tell everything that you know, don’t hold anything back.”

In the final report of the IAHCR investigation on Ayotzinapa, the investigators tried to do just that, citing obfuscation by authorities in impeding further investigation.
