Rebuilding a Landmark of Resistance

Support the rebuilding and repainting of the New Dawn of the Rainbow Trading Center at the crossroads of Cuxuljá, Chiapas! 

Make art, not war!

On August 22nd, members of  paramilitary group ORCAO (Regional Organization of Coffee Growers of Ocosingo) looted and burned the Zapatista coffee warehouses located on the road from San Cristóbal de las Casas to Ocosingo, Chiapas.  Cooperative facilities like these warehouse grains and community provisions for the region, both for sale and for essential use. This attack was one of many acts of intimidation and violence in the Zapatista region of Moisés Gandhi which has intensified recently. 

We launch this rebuilding effort in the spirit of multiplying the resistance, and in creating beauty in the face of adversity. With your help not only will the New Dawn of the Rainbow rise again, but it will be more colorful than ever!  As with so many new Zapatista constructions, your Gift of Change will also go to repainting the inspiring murals so unique and vital to the movement.
