These products are crafted by a family of artisans who a founded family cooperative within a Tzotsil Indigenous community in the municipality of San Cristóbal de las Casas, with the goal of enabling women to generate their own income and build economic independence.
Over the years, the cooperative has grown through continuous learning and training, while also transforming its artisanal processes and techniques. They began by working with pedal looms, producing traditional textiles, and over time learned various hand-embroidery techniques that are now an essential part of their work.
Among the pieces they create are earrings and hearts made using a technique called rococo embroidery, characterized by small rolled raised stitches—like tiny thread spirals—that add texture, volume, and intricate detail to each handmade piece.
