Hundreds of people gathered at the Mexico City Airport to welcome Squadron 421. In attendance were groups of indigenous peoples, networks of resistance and rebellion, adherents to the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle, the artistic community, journalists and individuals. Among the attendees was María de Jesús Patricio Martínez, Spokesperson of the National Indigenous Congress – Indigenous Governing Council.

Squadron 421 is the Zapatista maritime delegation that left on the ship La Montaña last May for Europe. It is made up of four women, two men and one non-binary person: Lupita, Carolina, Ximena, Yuli, Bernal, Felipe and Marijose.

After several weeks at sea, in June 2021, Squadron 421 arrived at its destination, which it renamed SLUMIL K’AJXEMK’OP, which means “Insubordinate Land”, or “Land that does not give in, and does not falter”.

During its stay in Insubordinate Europe, Squadron 421 met with various organizations. It also led the historic mobilization of August 13, 2021 in Madrid under the slogan: They did not conquer us.

There for the reception of Squadron 421 was Subcomandante Insurgente Moisés, who on September 13 will leave with La Extemporánea, the Zapatista airborne delegation, to continue the work in Insubordinate Europe.
