Rebel y Revel Arte

This past week, as the bad governments continued their rampage of greed and hatred on the global stage, in the highlands of Chiapas, another world was multiplying itself for LIFE and DIGNITY on the proscenium of the day after the storm. The Zapatista art festival gathered over a thousand creators and performers from 24 countries across the globe and over aXXX Zapatistas in a celebration of a world that is under construction in the hearts and movements of the people. Throughout Rebel y Revel Arte, as the festival was called, poets and painters, rappers and clowns wove the strands of joyful resistance and defied the cult of death (capitalism) —for the first four days high in Caracol VII of Jacinto Canek, and over the weekend descending to the campus of CIDECI Unitierra in San Cristóbal de las Casas. 

We share these few images with you to remind you that you matter — your pain, your rage, your words, your hope and your creativity matter. Don’t forget that. We need one another. The Zapatistas and the peoples in resistance know this….
