Compañeras, compañeros, sisters and brothers, receive our greetings from these lands of southern Mexico. Day after day we struggle to work and to support ourselves without depending on the social programs of the bad government. Today we raise our voices once again to publicly denounce that one of our fellow merchants, a Tseltal man and member of the National Indigenous Congress (Congreso Nacional Indígena CNI) “SAMIR FLORES SOBERANES” Zona 10 Patria Nueva, Ocosingo, Chiapas, is being targeted through legal action by Mrs. Silvia Reyes Sánchez, president of the Coalición de Locatarios (in countries like Mexico and parts of Central America, a locatario is also a person who owns or rents a stall or space inside a public market) del Mercado Tradicional Dr. Belisario Domínguez. This is happening even though we are co-owners of the Coalición de Locatarios del Mercado Tradicional Dr. Belisario Domínguez and have been among its founders since 1985.
On September 2, 2026, at around 8:20 in the morning, our compañero Enrique López Entzin was served notice by the Juzgado del Ramo Civil del Distrito Judicial de Ocosingo, Chiapas, of a civil lawsuit filed against him by Silvia Reyes Sánchez, under case file number 494/2026.
We also want to stress that our compañero Enrique López Sántiz is being harmed by a fabricated criminal charge, which we have already denounced in previous public statements and press conferences. At the same time, we make known a series of incidents that took place on June 10, June 23, July 13, and July 23 at the market where we work, all of them promoted by the Mesa Directiva (board of directors) of the Coalición.
We issue this Public Denunciation because the harassment, intimidation, threats, fabricated charges, and violations of our human and labor rights continue against our compañeras and compañeros, the affected locatarias and locatarios who are members of the Congreso Nacional Indígena “Samir Flores Soberanes” Zona 10 Patria Nueva. For this reason, we hold the federal, state, and municipal executive authorities and the justice institutions responsible for the grave situation we are facing right now: for their omissions, their inaction, and their complicity, and for the actions of the Mesa Directiva of the Coalición del Mercado Tradicional Dr. Belisario Domínguez.
We therefore demand that all three levels of government address this situation, follow up on it, and put a stop to the aggressions carried out by the Mesa Directiva of the Coalición del Mercado Tradicional Dr. Belisario Domínguez against our CNI group. We demand an end to the dispossession we are suffering: they are taking away our workplaces and the livelihood that sustains our families.
We call for solidarity: stay alert to our situation and to the actions of struggle, organization, and defense that we will continue to carry out.
