Collectives from Mexico, Central America and the United States Demand Effective Mechanisms for Search for Missing Persons

Relatives of missing persons and members of 15 collectives from Mexico, Central America and the United States met in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, to carry out the “Regional Days for Our Disappeared.” At the end of the meeting, they called on the Mexican State to demand the implementation of public policies that end the disappearance of people, and the implementation of mechanisms for the search and location of those who are already in that situation.

They demanded that all missing persons be found, both Mexicans and migrants from other countries who have disappeared in Mexico, as well as effective mechanisms for the search and location with a pluricultural approach that facilitates the search for missing persons from indigenous communities.

The relatives who came from various countries demanded the creation of spaces that contribute to the truth and justice for the victims, and urged the creation of records that help with the location, interconnected databases.

They made a special call to society in general to be more supportive of the families searching for their disappeared, and to protect the searching families so that their voice can find truth, justice, reparation, non-repetition and memory.
