Young Liria nodded excitedly with a smile that lit up her face like the Mayan sun. Her small frame rocked back and forth with emotion. She had been at the 30th anniversary celebration of the EZLN in the Caracol of Dolores Hidalgo, and still vibrated with the energy of it. Along with thousands of her peers, she witnessed as people from around the globe streamed into the remote canyons of Chiapas to celebrate... She witnessed for the first time the global reach of their movement that her grandparents and parents had built, and that she, should she choose to, would be charged with carrying on..

Passing through a mix of confused stares and friendly greetings during our route, we would cross over the tracks of La Bestia, the same cargo train that thousands of migrants have used in their journey north...."

Compañerxs, indigenous peoples throughout the world face threats to their well-being, their way of life and their territories. These threats come cloaked in many discourses, and take different forms, but the violence and dispossession have the same root - a quest for domination and control over others, and over life itself.

The catastrophe currently taking place in Gaza is one of those, and we simply cannot do the work that we do without aknowledging this common thread. We see that the Palestinian struggle to live in dignity and freedom is the struggle of indigenous peoples everywhere.

And we must do everything we can to build a world where all worlds fit.
